Hunting whitetail in Texas

Texas is 98% privately owned, so whitetail hunting is privately managed — no draw, no OTC cap, and most ranches run under the Managed Lands Deer Program with their own quotas and long seasons. Hunts are typically from blinds over feeders or food plots with 100–200 yard shots, and success above 90% is the norm. South Texas brush country (La Salle, Webb, Dimmit, Zavala) is the big-antler capital.

Pricing often splits into a base hunt ($2,500–$4,500 for 3 days) plus a trophy fee scaled to Boone & Crockett score, or an all-inclusive rate of $3,500–$8,000 on quality low-fence ground. Nonresident license is $315. Texas doesn't license outfitters at the state level — vet references, TWA membership, MLDP status, and acreage, and ask every operator directly whether they're high-fence or low-fence.
