Hunting bear in Maine
Maine holds the largest black bear population in the eastern United States, and the guided bait hunt over August and September is the classic way in — outfitters run bait sites for weeks before you arrive, and hunts with established operations post high opportunity rates year after year. Hound hunts and even traditional trapping are also legal, a combination no other eastern state offers.
This is one of the most affordable guided big-game hunts anywhere: $1,800–$3,500 for a 5-day baited hunt, frequently with lodging and meals included, plus the nonresident big-game license and a modest bear permit.
